Discovery

The inspiration for this application came from a safety feature found in train driver cabins called the "Dead-man’s vigilance device." This feature, in its various forms, ensures that the driver remains vigilant and focused. Drivers must respond to visual and audible warnings, or the vehicle will automatically stop.

Our aim was to create a mobile application with a similar objective. Users can place their phone in a holder and set an alarm. When the alarm rings, they must either wave their hand near the sensor camera or use their voice to deactivate it. If the user fails to respond, the app will send an emergency alert to a designated contact, indicating that the driver may be in trouble, or the alarm will continue to ring.

Ideation and concept

Before defining the functionality, I outlined the steps the user must take to quickly set the alarm and ensure its effective operation.

Design

Before creating detailed mock-ups, I started with simple post-it prototypes and sketches on paper. Following that, I transitioned to digital wireframes using the Miro app.
